I am having a bit of trouble deciding on a dress that I want to wear for Pat and my reception. I like them both for different reasons and I need to decide sooner rather than later.
Both dresses I have found on secondhand sites. Both of which have never been worn yet though. Not that it would stop me, but I am tall and I'm afraid that after a dress has been altered it probably won't fit me quite right.
Dress #1: Its a jcrew dress. I like it because its simple, which is what I'm going for. I also like how it is semi-form fitting. For myself, I want something more fitted to the body. I also want something with straps, because I'm a football player when it comes to my shoulders. It also has a keyhole in the back and I'm all about cute details in the back of a dress.
Here is the link to view the back and other angles. |
Here is the link to this dress. Hard to get a good look at though. |
I should probably also mention that my colors are going to be slate gray, yellow, and white...think jcrew. We are having our reception outdoors under tents. It will be very laidback and a semi-formal event.
I too love the second dress!!!
ReplyDeleteI am jumping on the bandwagon as well, I love the 2nd one! The 1st one is cute and I do like that one also, but the 2nd with that belt would look amazing! :) Best of luck deciding.
ReplyDeleteI really like the 2nd one! So pretty!
ReplyDeletei love them both, but i agree with everyone else and vote for #2 :) the belt is soooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought the second one right away for you! I am glad to see everyone else agreed :) I love the belt and I Dani had the right idea (of course :)) with the belt backwards so that the bow was in the back! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThis plain Jane likes the first dress...not that I dislike the second one. Maybe its that I can picture you in the first one so much easier. Your football player shoulders wouldn't stand a chance in that dress. I like a lot :)
ReplyDeleteDesi,
ReplyDeleteMy first choice was the 1st dress but then I realized it's from Jcrew. I tried a couple of dresses from them and they were awful and would have required alterations. If you want to have your cake and eat it too you could always order dress #1 from the actual site and return it that way you could get the feel.
The 2nd dress with the belt would be stunning.
Thanks everyone for your input! That is super dissapointing about the jcrew dresses. Can you tell me exactly what was so off with them?
ReplyDeleteSecond one!! Seriously that screams Desi. Perfect for the summer but of course you would look amazing in either one. Football player shoulders?! You and Dani are nuts lol. You both don't have fball shoulders. Miss you and livi!

I did some investigating for you...cuz I'm good at that, the second dress is David's Bridal, go to their website and click on Casual Wedding Dresses, you'll find that dress..read the reviews of the ladies who bought it, there are pictures of them in the dress...might change your mind, I mean, they liked the dress, but the pics were aweful...however, I'm pretty sure you would look breathtaking in anything you put on!!
ReplyDeleteThe proportions and fit were all off. Plus the one I tried on was basically see-through. I was told by the wedding specialist that their brides should wear nude spanx type suit...Yeah right on a 90F day in August! I would have spent $500 on alterations, but they may have improved this was 4 years ago. I've worn lots of their bridesmaid dresses and loved them (with a little nip/tucking)
ReplyDeleteDress number 1 definitley won't look right if its not lying exactly the way it should. That would be a problem. I've seen it on someone else and thought it looked nice but she had more curves than I do...could be a problem. Thanks for your help Nell!
ReplyDeleteYour mother votes on #1, and mother knows best!!!! I think you need to try them on to really know which one you like best. Order them both and send back the one you don't want. Problem solved, thats what mothers are for.
