SAHM for a day

I got to be a stay at home mom again for a day. I wish it had been under better circumstances, but Liv had the flu. It started yesterday around 6:30pm. Her and I were taking a nap in my bed when I got off from work. I woke up before her, so I left her to sleep a litte longer (yeah yeah I know...but who disturbs a sleeping baby? not this mom). Anyways, my dad went to go get her and she was FULL of puke. She, however, was in great spirits...my dad claims she was babbling and rolling around in her own puke. The smell obviously didn't phase her. Her hair and clothes were soaked...not to mention my bedding ::sigh::. She also had chunks of peas from her lunch in her hair. I may have gagged a few times...So I threw her in the big girl tub (which we hadn't done yet, but she loved it so we repeated that today), and changed her pj's. Not even 20 minutes later, Liv puked all over her pj's. Like seriously, what do you do with a puking baby? Me, well I tried to catch it in a burp rag...is that weird? I didn't know what else to do, but the child didn't stop until she had puked in the seat of her walk-around, two spots on the carpet, and I caught the rest. Clearly, if puke catching were a sport I wouldn't be MVP.

I'm happy to say that she's feeling better. I may have freaked out slightly and called the ER to see what to do and when I was supposed to bring her in. They did give me good advice and that was to dilute her formula and not give her as much as usual. Which was a better idea than I had, which was to not feed her because duhh she'd throw it up. Not such a great idea I guess. She was so tired from all that puking and the child fell asleep on my shoulder! I know, I haven't talked about this before, but she will.not. sleep on my shoulder. Its like when she's up in that position she has better things to do than lie her head down. So, I knew she wasn't feeling good when she was doing her pre-snooze chatting before she was dead to the world on my shoulder.

I called Bonnie this morning and she had said there was another sick baby yesterday and both her and I weren't comfortable sending Liv there when we didn't know if she'd be sick or not. She said that it happens too much that the parents can't take a day off and send their child to daycare sick, because of work. I didn't want to do that and I definitley didn't want to be called from work if Liv was puking everywhere. So, we stayed home together. She didn't puke today. She was really tired though. She took a nap in the morning, a 3 hour nap in the afternoon, and I could not keep her up past 7:30 tonight. She wanted to sleep at 6:30, but I held her off. So the poor thing is probably still not feeling 100%, but she will be at grammy's tomorrow and I won't have to worry about her.

A picture of us from the weekend when she was feeling her spunky self :) I think she really looks like Pat in this picture.

Sneak Preview ;)

Here is a little sneak preview of our spring photo shoot courtesy of Dani Payment Photography (ok I made that up...but maybe she should have a business). Auntie Dani outdid herself and my little spring chicken looks like a little model!

Can it get more spring than yellow, green, and flowers?

early spring

It was another beautiful day out. Its actually pretty crazy. I know 60 degrees doesn't sound like much, but if you live in the U.P. of Michigan, 60 degrees in March is unheard of! Because it was so nice out, we had the idea to bring Liv's walker outside and take advantage of our big driveway. She absolutely LOVED it...as you will see in the video. However, I have a lazy child that wanted to sit in the seat and just push herself backwards instead of standing and walking forward. Its really cute though and I can't wait to get her out there again!

stylin' in her new gladiators :)

Loving it

ooops, thats what happens when you walk backwards and can't see

our weekend in pictures

The photo shoot is complete! I can't wait to get the pictures from Dani. It was a beautiful day (60 degrees and sunny), so we shot it all outside! The shoot was full of flower pots, flower headbands, cute sunny dresses, bunny ears, pinwheels, and sunglasses. If that doesn't give you a hint, it was spring themed! Here is our weekend in pictures...we had a great time with Auntie Dani and our planning to go see her in a few weeks during my spring break (the plus of working at a school).
See this....it tastes good and makes bubbles

Climbing on Auntie

Grammy told us that Liv pulled herself into a standing position on Friday night and she has been pulling herself up on EVERYTHING...including people. Dani thought it was cute until she started pulling herself up on her hair.
She takes watching elmo very seriously

Rare occasion - snuggling with mommy. She is so not a snuggly girl.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

a land of bunnies

I had the worst day at work ever. It was full of run-aways, social workers, suicide threats, and 1st graders flashing their hoo-ha's in the classroom. So, instead of writing in detail about my day I have decided to flash back a few days and tell a story that a little boy in my class told in our "culture" class. That would be Indian culture class to be specific. I walked in at the end of the class and the teacher was letting the students take turns telling stories, because in the Indian culture, stories are very important, right? Right. Anywho, this little one is very soft spoken and sensitive. He loves stuffed animals and is always asking me if I think the puppy in this picture is cute. Very cute. So he gets up to tell his story and asks if he can use the white board to draw a picture along with his story. He draws a great big square shape and starts the story....

"A long long time ago there was a town fulllll of bunnies. All different kinds of bunnies. All different colors of bunnies". His little hand drew circles and used different markers to fill in the "bunnies". "The bunnies were very happy in their town, but it got toooo crowded, so some of the bunnies were sent away". As he said this, he drew two circles outside of the square with arrows showing they were leaving. "But the bunnies came back because they were sad and they had such a good life in their town". He drew arrows to show them coming back. He proceeded to tell us how more bunnies were sent away but because all of them loved their life so much....they always came back. I drew a little pictures to show you what his art looked like :)

This story killed me. It was adorable. All of the kids loved it too. So, even when work makes me want to go drink 3 margaritas, sometimes its cute and I need to remember the good times...and who doesn't love a good bunny story :)

Hi

"hi", thats technically Liv's first word. The only problem is she has no idea what it means...but that doesn't stop her from saying it all the time. We noticed it last weekend and then today when I picked Liv up from daycare, Bonnie asked "has Olivia been saying hi?"!! She told me that every time she picked her up, Liv would put her face really close to hers and say "hi" :). She says it in such a sweet little voice it makes me melt.

In other good news, Liv is feeling better. She still has a cough and a runny nose but she seems to be acting a bit more peppy. We are both looking forward to Auntie Dani coming Thursday night! Dani has two outfits and props picked out to have a photo shoot with Liv. So you can look forward to some more amazing photos courtesy of my sister, spring themed :).

I took some more pictures of Liv Sunday when we went for a walk, because it was 40 degrees!! I know that sounds cold, but it felt SO warm for the U.P., especially in March. The sun was out and it felt great to get some fresh air. Liv slept almost the whole time so I think she liked it. Sunday evening we were going to my Grandma Nancy's birthday get together and Liv was all dressed up for the occasion so I have some pictures of that too. I'm going to try to be better about updating this week because I have been slacking and I know it.

7 Months

This post is coming a few days late because we have had the longest week of our lives. Liv has been sick for about a week now. She's teething and has a cold. We have been to see Dr. Mackie and for a quick trip to the walk-in clinic because her fever spiked. Basically her top two teeth are thisss close to popping through and that coupled with the cold is causing for a lack of sleep in our world. In my stay at home days, this would be manageable...however, going to work in a first grade classroom after no sleep makes me a little crazy. But no worries, I have a stash of redbull shots in my desk at work.

Lets get back to the reason for my post. My 7 month old princess. She was justtt weighed and measured last night at the ER so I'm going to go with those stats seeing I don't have any to post. According to the scale she was 22lbs 13oz and she was 29 inches long! BTW...this was so cool to me, but they measured her standing up! Which, for Liv is wayyy more accurate bc just try grabbing her foot and pulling it straight, she has superwoman muscles and will fight you the whole way. So moral of the story is I have a giant baby. If you have a 7 month old that is 22lbs plus and 29 inches long I would love to know about it because as of right now I think she's in a league of her own, or just special :).

So new things that Livi is up to....we have desperately been trying to get her to crawl. We have succeeded in getting her to tolerate time on her tummy and she can move backwards a little, which just frustrates her when she wants what we're bribing her with. The best bribe is the remote control. As you can see in my previous video, Liv is in love with her walk-around and her purple phone. She spends a lot of time in there. Food wise I'm still making her foods, except for her yo baby. I tried mixing fruits I made with plain whole milk yogurt and Liv hated it...so I went back to the yo baby. No meats yet, but she loves her puffs and mum mums.

This post is getting long, but I feel like I've been slacking lately. Like I said earlier, this week has been crazy and I'm hoping once Liv isn't sick my whole working mom life will get easier. I really miss my baby lately, but its nice to go pick her up and see her big smiling face and hear her excited squeals when I walk in the door. Here is my 7 month old...she's decked out in pj's, because thats how we roll when we're sick.
